Desiree
Desiree’s classes are safe places for self expression. It’s such a privilege to be heard by others, and to hear from them.
I participated in Rose Writers Creative Writing Workshops for almost 5 years . . . During those warm and wonderful workshops, I grew immeasurably as a writer and as a person. Desiree's knowledge, emotional intelligence, and hospitality were integral in creating a safe space to explore and nurture my desire to express myself through writing, in a way that I'd never experienced before. Run, don't walk, if you have the opportunity to work with Desiree and be a part of her community of writers!
Desiree gave me a safe environment to share my writing and I am a better writer because of it. I am so glad I contacted her.

In each 90-minute session, we write using prompts designed to spark your creativity, and explore story ideas. Afterwards, you'll have the option to share your work for encouraging feedback.
Workshop guidelines and practices help create a safe and encouraging enviroment for all participants.
Writers block hits us all and can be very frustrating. Writing with others is a great way to help us move past blocks. The prompts can also provide another way of looking at your story and characters.
Writers are invited to share their just-written work with the group for feedback. Sharing is always optional and voluntary. AWA practices stress that feedback focuses on the positive, letting the writer know which parts stood out for us and made us think. Over the years, I've come to see how this is the most powerful part of the workshop experience.

No problem! My workshops are perfect for beginners, and you will feel welcomed and encouraged.
No. The only work we review during workshop are the stories we write while in session. During writing time, writers typically turn off their cameras and write in their journals or laptops. You are not expected to "finish" a story or poem; write what comes and enjoy the process.
Sharing is always optional. Writers who do share will hear only affirmative feedback.
Yes. Each session stands alone and writers are free to take as many, or as few, as they like.
