Desiree R Kannel, Owner & Facilitator

Rose Writers begin in 2009 in my living room. After learning about the Amherst Writers & Artists Workshop method, I knew it was the perfect avenue to help others on their writing journey. After earning my MFA degree from Antioch University, I became a certified AWA facilitator and started Rose Writers, named after my daughter, Sarah Rose.

I also hold an elementary teacher certificate from California State University Long Beach, and a post grad certificate in Rhetoric & Composition from California State University Dominquez HIlls.

Rose Writers is guided by the following core values

Respect – A writer’s individual style and voice is respected and honored. The teaching of craft is done without damage to the writers’ spirit or artistic talent.

Affordability – I believe that following your dreams should not be a strain on your budget.

Laughter – Whether in group workshop, the classroom, or private tutoring, I laugh. A lot. I love what I do and that joy spills over to laughter. It also helps to relieve stress, puts the writers at ease, and brings the joy back to writing.
