Characters & Characterization
Physcial description is just the start of creating characters. Understanding your character's desires, contradictions, pain and dissappointments is also essential. What you'll learn: How to create believable and engaging characters that will keep readers reading.

Dialogue
Bad dialogue can ruin an otherwise great story, but great dialogue reveals character, advances plot, and builds tension.
Learn how to write dialogue that moves the story, and recognize when you need to revise how your characters speak.

Setting & Worldbuilding
The where and when of your story and how to make it feel real and vivid.
What you'll learn: how to build a world (real or imagined) that readers can see, feel, and believe in.

POV & Voice
You'll move beyond the basics of point of view to discover which voice (or lense) works best for your story. Playing around with POV is more than just switching out pronouns. Are you using the right one?
Learn how to choose the most effective POV for your story.

Scene & Summary
The building blocks of fiction! Well thought out scenes, mixed with summary, builds tensiion and leads the character to the climax and beyond.
Learn what makes a scene work, the importance of summary, and how to incorporate both in your manuscript.

Emotional Arc
This session explores how to develop, keep track of, and shape your character's inner journey. Explore putting your characters into situations that will reveal what they are really made of.
Learn how to fix flat characters and add emotional depth to your stories.

All of my classes and workhops incorporate the AWA method created by Pat Schneider, which focuses on creating a safe artistic space for writers to express their authentic voice without fear of criticism. I believe that "every story has potential" and aim to provide professional, honest, and encouraging feedback and support to all writers.
